Nearly eight months ago, Gucci Beauty launched an Instagram page, which today boasts 287K followers and very little activity besides beauty highlights from its runway shows, inspiration from the arts, and beautifully shot images of the brand’s fragrance line. There was no hint (besides the name) as to whether Gucci was bringing back its cosmetics line, which has been silent since 2016. Until now.
According to its website, the company will be relaunching its beauty line on May 4 with new lipsticks, under its partnership Coty. On the Gucci Beauty Instagram account, you can find clips of women of the #GucciBeautyNetwork discussing their lipstick woes.
With year over year growth in both its fashion and fragrance sectors, it makes sense that the luxury giant would want to tap back into beauty at a time when prestige cosmetics is on an upward growth trajectory. We’ll be keeping an eye out for Gucci Beauty’s rollouts, and keeping tabs on whether the brand’s new offerings are black girl approved.
The new line will be offered exclusively at Gucci.com and select boutiques in New York City beginning May 4.
